David Trail was born sometime between 1678 and 1695 in Orkney, Scotland. His parents were William Trail and Barbara Balfour. He emigrated and settled in New Scotland Hundred, Prince George's County, Maryland. He married in about 1717 and had five children. Descendants and relatives lived mainly in Maryland.
